2:00 a.m. and you are waking up, rolling around wrestling through a rough night of sleep. Going through your day tired and groggy. The same gland that releases the hormone that causes you to have quick bursts of energy can also be robbing you of much needed sleep.

When your adrenal glands release excessive amounts of the hormone adrenalin it makes it difficult for your body to utilize the mineral Calcium.

Calcium requires the blood circulating through your body to be a certain pH. Excessive amounts of adrenalin throws off the body’s pH balance making it difficult for calcium to be absorbed into the bloodstream. Muscle cramps can result at night from the lack of calcium being supplied to muscles causing restless sleep or lack of sleep.

The circadian cycles, or the hormones that control your sleep cycle, are also sensitive to the timing of the adrenalin hormone. If your adrenal glands are firing improperly it will be hard to achieve a restful deep sleep.

Exercising and dieting properly together is the best way to gain a satisfying sleep if you are having problems. Sleeping pills and other medications only treat the symptoms without looking at the causes. Contact One World Fitness to discuss how an appropriate exercise and diet program can help you achieve the sleep you want.

Social situations can be very uncomfortable sometimes – especially when you are self-conscious about your weight or shape. It happens to people of every color and creed all over the world all the time. People lose confidence in themselves because of their appearance or health.

Many look to exercise to shed the pounds ruining their self image, but have the misconception that using muscles burns fat. Exercising muscles is simply a trigger for the real fat burner.

Fat-burning hormones burn fat, not exercise. The body releases these fat-burning hormones after muscles have been exerted and need to be repaired. The energy from the fat is used to repair the muscle.

In order for this repair to begin and fat to be burned muscles need to be stressed properly. The body does not like to be stressed. It will respond to the stresses of proper exercise by producing larger muscles and more efficient ways to supply blood and oxygen to these muscles. You can tell this is happening when you find yourself comfortably performing exercises that have given you trouble in the past.

In order to keep achieving gains in strength, health and fat burning you have to continually put the body through GOOD stresses. When you reach that comfort level in your exercises your body will slow down the release of the fat-burning hormones so that your body can save that energy for later.

Over stressing the body can cause it to store fat for later use as well. It is important that you put your body through the right exercises at the right intensity to get the full benefit from exercise. For more ways to optimize your workouts contact us at One World Fitness in D.C.

Improper exercise, work stress, physical injury, social stress, family stress and other everyday stresses – the body does not care how the stress is induced. It will treat all of them the same. A large part of that treatment is the activation of the Adrenal Glands.

In a healthy body the Adrenal glands help with fighting inflammation, disease and mineral imbalance in an overall effort to maintain a healthy body. However, all of these are a form of stress that the body naturally deals with.

Overly stressed bodies can cause the adrenal glands to release an excess amount of adrenalin in a desperate attempt to combat the overwhelming stress the body is experiencing. This adrenalin, which is a chemical messenger, tells the body to do something in response to the stresses it is encountering.

Unfortunately for many, the response is the release of Cortisol, which is also a chemical messenger. Cortisol tells the body to release sugar for use in quick bursts of energy. When this sugar is not used it is stored in the body as fat. This sugar also tends to come from the muscles in the legs, butt and arms. This is the main reason Adrenal Body Type individuals tend to have larger torsos paired with thinner limbs.

In order to fight the adverse effects of excessive amounts of adrenalin and reverse the changes that have occurred to your body if you are an Adrenal Body Type you need to go on a healthy diet and exercise program.

There are four different body types( Adrenal, Liver, Thyroid, or Ovarian), we develop a program specifically for you through finding out which body type you may be. Here’s a brief description of each body type for you:

The Adrenal Body Type, is noted by the accumulation of fat around the vital organs in the abdomen. The adrenal glands produce the hormone Adrenaline. Under stress or anxiety, the increase of Adrenaline in the body/blood quickly produces high levels of energy in the body by breaking down muscle tissue into sugar to deal with the stress. This leads to weight gain in a stressed person.

The Liver Body Type, is noted by a potbelly appearance. An unhealthy liver leaks water into the body leading to fluid retention and creating a large belly.

The Thyroid Body Type, is noted by the accumulation of fat all around the body, not just a specific area. A weak thyroid slows your metabolism which leads to low body energy, a “craving” for sugary foods, and your body becoming toxic, which slows the elimination of waste

The Ovarian Body Type, can affect both men and women and is noted by the accumulation of fat around the hips and thighs, with a lower stomach bulge under the belly button (For the guys, that’s your “beer belly”. For ladies it’s your “lil pouch”).

Fill out a test and come in to visit us for a thorough breakdown and analysis.
